Those who
snore are people who are exposed to increased risk for the emergence of chronic
bronchitis, announced the Korean scientists in the professional journal Archives of Internal Medicine. The study between 2001. and 2006. was conducted on a sample of 4270 examinees. Chronic
bronchitis in that period was
diagnosed at 314 participants. After they took into consideration factors of risk for
bronchitis, such as
smoking or exposure to polluted air, researchers have found that
bronchitis was 25 percent more common in participants who
snore one to five nights a week, and even 68 percent more common in people who snore six or seven nights a week. Researchers have not discovered a mechanism that would explain the perceived link, but believe that the vibrations of upper
respiratory tract that occur during snoring may increase the chances for the development of inflammatory processes.
